In response to the escalating concerns about the community spread of this virus, we commissioned at the Back In Motion Health Group the CV-19 Taskforce. Ably lead by Justin Groenewaldt, we have met daily for over a week and put together a strategic response to support the 140+ physiotherapy locations in our network across Au and NZ.
Unsurprisingly, our team are fielding countless phone calls and emails everyday – by people within our group and those outside. We are also actively engaged in advocacy work with parallel organisations to help determine the right health and business policy and to direct people along the best paths. Of particular value is sorting the misinformation from the verifiable facts, and ensuring no owners are acting out of fear or panic, but rather a well informed and responsible position.
At Back In Motion, we hold very dearly the value of “significance”. This core belief speaks to our intent to make a difference in the lives of others. For this reason, we have been actively supporting practice owners regardless of whether they carry our brand or not. People matter, and just like you, we want to support the profession and the communities you serve to overcome these challenging times with resilience.
We will share with you on the Monday webinar the Back In Motion CV-19 Strategic Response Plan. We have created 4 levels of measured escalation; strategies and actions proportionate for each likely stage of the pandemic; and put special emphasis around:
(1) Protecting people,
(2) Preparing for the foreseeable challenges to practice continuity, and
(3) Recovery when any likely outbreak is contained.
We will share our approach to client communications; recruitment, employment and staffing related matters; telehealth strategies and other adaptable service delivery options; consideration around what constitutes “essential services”; sensitivity and timing of local area marketing strategies; preparation for large scale cancellations and drop off of new patients; “scripting” to empower your staff when asked difficult questions: securing consumables in the face of limited supply; cashflow and profitability implications for the local practice; and much more.
The second half of the webinar will be an interactive session for people to ask questions about their own situation. We will have experts online representing People & Culture, Practice Operations, Finance, Technology and Marketing to help guide the conversation and give thoughtful responses. Our team of subject matter experts all form part of the senior leadership team at Back In Motion and have deep experience in understanding the sector we work in. They have immersed themselves in this current situation to be a resource to those who need it.
The webinar has intentionally been scheduled to avoid conflict with valuable forums hosted by the Australian Physiotherapy Association and other Facebook groups we are aware of. We are grateful to these and other colleagues within our sector who are showing strong leadership and support at a time when it’s needed.
Back In Motion doesn’t have all the answers, but we are certainly willing to share our insights and hope to learn from you too. We intend on avoiding exaggerated responses that create fear and anxiety but rather co-create and advocate a plan that is staged, measured and sensible.
We believe we are stronger together.
